Meet the team feature…Irene Forja Barriga

Meet Irene, one of our software developers who joined the Asckey team 5 years ago.

Irene joined Asckey in January 2019 as an IT Support Technician.

Her keen eye for detail and passion for personal development have seen her progress to Junior Developer and then in April 2021, she advanced to a software developer within the team.

What made you choose to go into your current career path?

I have always had a strong interest in computers and technology and always enjoyed solving problems. I am well-established in the development team, and I work on developing our cloud applications. I also work on our bespoke development projects which can require a bit more creativity with their development.

This career has enabled me to follow my passion and interests.

What do you like best about your role?

What I like about my role the most is that I work as part of a team where we all contribute and help each other. We are a small company that provides a very supportive network that encourages personal development and technical training.

What do you like to do away from work?

Outside work my passions are photography, wildlife, nature, and sports, especially basketball.

Where is your favourite place to take pictures?

For wildlife photography, I have to say that I am very lucky because we are surrounded by amazing RSPB nature reserves in Cambridgeshire (such as Fen Drayton Lakes).

Who is your favourite sports team?
I am from Cadiz, in the south of Spain, so Cadiz FC is my football team! I also support football and basketball Barcelona FC.

Where has been your best holiday destination?

One of the best holidays I have had so far was the trip to Croatia where I travelled from north to south and visited many paradise islands!

Are you a tea or coffee person?

I am a tea person…but just flavoured teas!
